Il fait beau. Il fait chaud. Temps de changer son habitat.

Hello Unigirls! It's Monica here with my first post on the Unicorn blog. For those who don't know me -- I just moved to Montreal about two months ago from a little island smack dab in the atlantic ocean, between New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. Yes, I am from Prince Edward Island.

Montreal has been great and relaxing since I've made my way here but I am dealing with a very stressful time right now -- moving. Yes, on PEI, Canada Day is a very big deal there, filled with celebrations and heavy drinking, fireworks and street meat. Here, July 1st is more known for moving day and that is what I am doing this weekend. I am moving into a new pad. My own casa! Shared with my two new wonderful roommates. And I am certain that I am not the only person in Montreal that is going through the same stressful time.

The fun part of the move is the interior decorating of the Princess Palace (yes, we-ve named it. Copyright included.) My roommates and I have been swarming each other's facebook walls with ideas as to how we will decorate our new nook. I have included in this wall post, some photographs that have enlighted us with divine interior decorating inspiration :)  I hope they inspire you too if you are moving as well or simply if want to fab your shack!

Kitchen!

Chalk board paint, to leave messages and reminders.

Bathroom.

Chesterfields are incredibly beautiful, AND comfortable. Also, I am a sucker for old photographs and portraits. There is always a mystery behind them...

We love antlers!

Old wine bottles or perriers for candle holders.

I found some inspiration in the aesthetic and design even at this boutique. They have a really beautiful couch, you can notice it in the left corner!

Unmatching chairs can look great together with the right color palette.

This may sound kind of creepy but my mother collects animal skulls; many people have a love / hate relationship with them -- I plan to steal one and take it back to Montreal with me for the  apartment.

Next post I will have to let you know how things go and will post photos.

Il fait très beau dehors, j'espère que tout le monde passent un bel TGIF.
À la prochaine ;)

Formidable!

My Roommate painted our kitchen cupboards with chalkboard paint. There's also a big round cement column that's been painted with it in the dining area too. We use it at lot! Especially at parties. Whenever we have a big gathering we're always sure to "prep" and clean the chalk boards and leave the chalk lying around in conspicuous places. It's always an interesting treat to have your friends leave their (drunken) artistic stamp on your space, but in a way that's very controllable and temporary!

It's awesome!
