back to school!

Summer flew by in front of our eyes, at the speed of a lightning bolt across the sky. Really, it flew and as I look at the calendar and adjust my eyes to date, I see that school is nearing around the corner. Ah, yes! It's time to go back to class. Some of us dread this time, some of us don't. I actually look forward to starting my classes at Concordia this semester. And as I gear up for school, I fantasize about all the wonderful things I will have to equip myself with. As an English major, I do a lot of writing and require the right tools for the job: Moleskine journals and my Waterman fountain pen

Moleskine journals come in many shapes, sizes. They are sold with soft covers and hard covers. And even if you aren't going to school in the fall, they are great for anything. Creative jobs or business types a like. They sell a variety of different folios with paper to suit your style, whichever style that may be! Moleskines are sold with blank pages, squared or lined pages.
They also have hard covers with a leather bound, or soft covers made of cardboard paper.

They also have agendas, so if you are looking to record anything for the fall and haven't broken into the Blackberry or iPhone to organize your life, the Moleskine 18-month planner is great to keep all your appointments and meetings clarified. I got mine in July and it started that month (a planner that doesn't start in September or January! I was delighted.) and it goes on until December 2010, so it will last me for the next year and a half.

I highly recommend these notebooks to anyone who is a fan of writing things down and don't necessarily always depend on their macbook or laptop computer to record everything.

Moleskines also come with little postcards inside that have great quotes about writing from renowned authors, this is an example of one with a quote by Emily Dickinson "I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine."

Moleskines are great, but I also need the write tool (get it?) to inscribe my notes in. My mother went to Paris this summer and came back with a wonderful birthday gift for me: A Waterman fountain pen. Not everyone is a fan of fountain pens, but I like them because they last forever! All that has to be done is changing the ink cartridge in them to refill it. Some fountain pens can be messy but Waterman has been in the business for years and they make quality fountain pens. The cool part too is that on their website, you can make your own pen. You choose the color of the pen's body ranging from reds, greens, blues, blacks or silver, followed by the colour trim which comes with the choice of either gold or white. Ta-da! Then you have your own custom made Waterman pen that will be like no other. Mine is red with a gold trim!

I hope this post inspires you to go back to work or school and persevere towards your own successes! Happy Saturday.
